A’Saffa Foods announced the winners of “Habtat Al Eid with A’Saffa” photography competition. It was aired on the social media pages from August 6th to August 22nd, 2019, and attracted many participants, both amateur and professional photographers. All the contestants were evaluated by the judging committee, that included reporter and photographer Ahmed AlKindi, member of the Photographic Society of Oman, founder of the Oman International Photography Competition and winner of a number of local and international photography awards, most notably the Sultan Qaboos Award ; as well as professional photographer Ahmed Al-Touqi, member of the International Photography Union (FIAP) and of the Photographic Society of Oman who has won a number of local and international awards. According to the judges' evaluation, Salim Al Obaidani gained the first place, Ahmed Al Hadhrami took second, Omar Al Busaidi third, and Hamed Al Ghanboosi and Ziyad Al Mashari won the fourth and fifth places respectively. The competition attracted more than 100 posts and photos with great interaction from professional and amateur photographers. The aim of the contest was to highlight the Habta as traditional Omani markets, very popular around the Sultanate during Eids. The first-place image deserved victory as it embodied the popular atmosphere of Habta in Nizwa and the participation of citizens in these local events; it highlights the custom prevailing in the Wilayat of Nizwa and other Wilayats in the Sultanate which are there to buy and sell livestock as part of the preparation for Eid al-Adha. All that combined with skilled technical execution. A’Saffa’s targets with this contest were to highlight one of the events that characterize the Sultanate, bring together participants from across the country and support young Omani talents, willing to express their creativity.
